Just in time for the holidays… get your own original Sugar Fix song!

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

This is clearly a bad idea but I’ve decided to move forward anyway. That’s usually my pattern for getting into trouble.

I’ve just put up an eBay auction to let people bid on choosing the concept for an original Sugar Fix indie rock/pop musical creation. You can get all the details on eBay.

Let the bidding begin!

Blog Post Songwriting Challenge

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Who is crazy enough to sign up for writing a song based on an unknown blog post and the comments that ensue? Me. That’s who. And who’s crazy enough to volunteer their blog as inspiration? Tyler Cowen over at Marginal Revolution.

Will it be a fun post like the one on what to do when you’ve been suddenly transported back in time 1000 years? Nope. Tyler decided that was too easy and chose to write a post whether books are too long. I am not shitting you. I signed up to write a song about the fact that some people think books are too long these days.

What have I done…

I CAN HAZ LYRICZ

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Apparently my diction leaves something to be desired as there have been several requests for lyrics for all the tracks. Wish granted! You can click on the Lyrics category, or when you go to each individual song post (click on the name of the track in the left column) there’s a link to the lyrics at the bottom of each song post. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi there new Sugar Fix fans :)

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Well, the last couple of days have certainly been exciting. Needless to say, we’re getting slightly more attention than normal for the latest track – 1000 A.D. – courtesy of kottke.org, Marginal Revolution, and MetaFilter as well as many other cool blogs. Thanks to everyone who posted, commented, listened, etc.

I thought now might be a good time to introduce some of the new inductees into the Sugar Fix Fan Ecosystem (it’s small, but I’ve decided it’s an ecosystem nonetheless) to some of the other tracks that haven’t gotten as much press:

Thanks to everyone who’s written about, or visited the site. Hope to have more new music soon. :)

Back at Sugar Fix Studios…

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Haven’t posted a new song in a bit. I am working on several at once but things are a little slower going since work started up again. I have one track done except for the string quartet. I am not shitting you — a string quartet. What kind of a pretentious jerk thinks he can put a string quartet in his song? This kind!

Don’t judge me too harshly. There are at least 3 others in the works as well (songs, not pretentious jerks), including my first cover. Scary! I’ll keep plugging away and post when I have something listenable.

Hello world!

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Hi. Welcome to the Sugar Fix blog.

I often believe (or maybe hope) that technology will solve all the world’s problems. Peace in the middle east? A big middle east peace robot will solve it. Global warming? They’re inventing global cooling technology as we speak. Those may be a ways out, but technology has finally gotten to the point where I’m capable of producing songs that sound relatively close to what’s in my head. Thank you Logic for letting me turn my banging on the piano into something semi-reasonable. Clearly technology has decided to tackle the most difficult problems first.

Given this new advance, it’s time to start sharing those songs. On this blog, I’ll publish music periodically. I don’t know how often, but I’ll try to keep it to at least one new song a month. We’ll see how it goes. Your comments are welcome as always. That is, if anyone shows up.
